Alcaraz and Djokovic most recently met at Wimbledon, where Alcaraz won his second straight Wimbledon title in straight sets (6-2, 6-2, 7-6). Alcaraz added that to his grand slam trophy case, along with a 2024 French Open title in a tournament Djokovic exited with a knee injury that ultimately required surgery.

Djokovic is the all-time grand slam record holder with his 25 titles, but he has yet to win an Olympic gold medal. That distinction is one of few voids in Djokovic’s collection, and the 37-year-old might not get another opportunity beyond Sunday’s final.

Djokovic vs Alcaraz at Paris 2024 — latest
Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz clash in the men’s tennis gold medal final today at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Djokovic, 37, is one of the greatest players in the history of tennis and has won a record 24 Grand Slam singles titles. But a bronze medal in singles from Beijing 2008 is all he has to show for his four previous appearances in the Olympic tournament.
Alcaraz — a four-time Grand Slam champion — is meanwhile appearing at his first Olympic Games.
The two men have played one another six times and have three wins apiece. The 21-year-old Spaniard won their most recent meeting in the Wimbledon final earlier this summer.

Here come our gold medal contenders!
The walk from the dressing rooms to the court is a very familiar one for both of these players at Roland Garros.
And they have just emerged onto the court to a huge ovation — Alcaraz first and then Djokovic.
